Abstract

Technology is extremely important in our life, as in the pupils’ lives. Many professions are of a technical kind. Therefore, all pupils should be exposed to technology education. In the project ‘Physics and Technology’ we investigate the position of technology in education, and particularly in secondary general education. The main question is, What elements of technology can be included in education? From this question, three subsidiary questions are derived: 1. What is technology according to experts? 2. What is technology according to pupils? 3. In what ways do courses in which elements of technology have been included, influence pupils? In this article we describe how in the project Physics and Technology we are trying to find an answer to these subsidiary questions by means of research and development work.
