Subcritical crack growth in a hybrid coating

Abstract

Results on the subcritical crack growth in a hybrid organic–inorganic coating are reported. The crack growth rate appeared to depend on the crack length and the coating thickness. The crack growth rate is related to the energy release rate and a tentative explanation of the fracture behavior is proposed.
