Abstract

Strain-gauge measurements were performed for the use of verifying analytical and finite element analyses of bone and bone prostheses. The left femur of a 52 yr old man was fixed into a laboratory setting and provided with 112 strain gauges of 3 filaments each. Forces in 3 directions and couples around 3 axes were applied on the head and the trochanter maior. The forces ranged from 50 N up to 1000 N, the couples from 500 Ncm up to 1250 Ncm
