title = "Statistical approach to find a perceptually relevant measure for the viewing angle dependency of displays",
abstract = "The specification of the display's viewing angle as the angle, within which the contrast ratio is larger than 10:1, is still commonly used without any justification that this is a relevant specification from the consumer's point of view. In our search towards a perceptually relevant specification for the viewing angle, we performed a principal component and regression analysis to all physical characteristics of the display that might determine the viewing angle dependent image quality. This type of analysis was done for two types of LCDs and for one PDP. The results indicate that the luminance of the mid-tone gray levels and the chromaticity coordinates of the primaries and the white-point together determine the acceptable viewing angle. {\textcopyright} 2007 SID.",
