Single multi-mode mask for multi-channel mode division demultiplexing

Abstract

A mode demultiplexer based on a single multi-mode mask is experimentally demonstrated for splitting 3 spatial modes. Simulations for separating 5 modes is verified successfully and low mode-dependent loss is achieved with mode-dependent rotation compensation.
