Abstract

A phase-comparator-free clock recovery is proposed based on adding the base-rate clock to the optical time-division multiplexing signal through phase modulation. Successful retrieval of 10GHz base-rate clock and error-free operation of 160 to 40Gbit/s demultiplexing are demonstrated.
