Abstract

Gasification is the thermo-chemical route of conversion of solid fuels like biomass and coal for generation of gaseous fuels which mainly consist of CO and hydrogen. These fuels are widely used for domestic and commercial applications like cooking and decentralized power generation Earlier studies shows that the CO emissions coming out of these devices are far from the estimated equilibrium values and hence should be kinetically controlled. The existing kinetic models fails to predict the CO emissions from these devices, hence give an scope for the development of simplified kinetic model which can predict both emissions and temperature profiles under reasonable accuracy.
