    Abstract

In this contribution managerial aspects of industrial energy conservation at plantlevel are treated. A tool is presented that enables to study the influence of sequential decision making on the design (choice of unit operations) and, consequently, on the energy performance of a production system. Furthermore, the interactions between the production system and its periphery are discussed.
