Abstract

Rigid pi-conjugated mono- or bisterpyridines, e.g. I, were prepd. via Horner-Wadsworth-Emmons reaction and Sonogashira coupling reaction. Intense blue emission and high quantum yields have been obsd. for the dil. solns. and thin films of the new pi-conjugated terpyridines. [on SciFinder (R)]
