Abstract

Strathclyde is one of the foremost engineering universities within the UK. Its strong industrial-academic links have allowed it to respond to industrial requirements as and when they arise. Recently, the increasing importance of energy-related and environ-mental issues has prompted a demand for knowledgeable persons with a detailed understanding of renewable energy options and system performance evaluation. The University has responded by developing courses on aspects of renewable energy at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. This paper reports on the nature of these courses, and on the philosophy which lies behind them.
