Abstract
Development of consumer goods that meet the buying and using expectations of the consumers is no longer a straightforward job. Technology becomes available at increasing pace, while at the same time the product life cycles ever shortening. Companies are challenged to bring innovative products faster to the market, with inherently higher uncertainties on the consumer expectations of these products. In this context, reliability has a different meaning and the design methods and tools required to manage reliability, as well as test strategies in this context, are different from the classical ones.
