    Abstract

A review with 49 refs. on the use of irradn. of immiscible blends to control morphol. and mech. properties by inducing a desired amt. of crosslinking or chain scission in 1 of the 2 phases and(or) to induce reactions at the interface is presented. The effects of radiation on 2 major classes of blends, i.e., a crosslinkable dispersed phase with an inert matrix and a crosslinkable dispersed phase with a degrading matrix, are discussed concerning the effects of radiation on the control of morphol. during different processing conditions on obtaining improved properties.
