    Abstract

QUICK is a prototyping tool for building and evaluating human-computer interfaces that include speech. A speech recognizer and speech storage module are embedded in the tool. The QUICK concept is similar to that of a User Interface Management System. Some propenics of UIMS's that were used to make the tool modular and easy to use are discussed. The different QUICK modules arc described. Several human-factors researchers used the tool to design their experiments. An evaluation of the usage of the tool and examples of the prototypes that were built with it will be presented.
