Abstract
A reactor for pyrolyzing a sample consists of a long narrow reactor tube which is at least 50 times as long as the inside diam. The interior of the tube is lined with Au, Ag, or Cu. The tube is placed in an insulated heated enclosure having a variable temp. range of 200-800 Deg. The sample to be pyrolyzed is 1st vaporized and then flushed through the reactor by using an inert gas. This app. may be connected to a gas chromatograph to identify the pyrolazates formed.
