Pulse limiting amplification by saturation effects in an SOA

Abstract

We study the limiting-amplification capability of a saturated SOA followed by an optical filter in case of amplitude-modulated 20GHz pulses. We report more than 25 dB amplitude-modulation-reduction for input modulating frequencies in the range 100KHz-3GHz.
