Abstract

This chapter aims to provide concrete guidance in redesigning business processes. Two alternative methods are described, both of them suitable to boost business performance. The first one is based on a collection of best practices, as applied in various redesign projects. These best practices all have specific characteristics and as such influence process performance in various ways. The second design method takes on an information processing perspective on business process. By clearly focusing on the exact information that has to be established during process execution, the most suitable process lay-outs can be determined to efficiently generate that information Keywords: process design; process redesign; process engineering; best practice; information processing
