    Abstract

A general 3-dimensional glass tank model is presented based on finite difference calcn. methods. This TNO glass tank model is the basis for the complex description of all relevant processes taking place during industrial glass melting. The TNO glass tank flow model describes the heat transfer in the molten glass and the convection patterns. In this model, the interaction of the molten glass with the batch blanket, combustion chamber, furnace walls, or obstacles, and the action of forced bubbling, are or can be included.
