Abstract
Now that Virtual Learning Environments are common within higher education in the
Netherlands it is time to work with online validated informational resources. Technologies such as repositories are the systems to manage learning content but are most inconvenient in use. The national project NKBW aims at the knowledge gap or rather mathematical lack from students when they join the university. Many higher education institutions struggle with the same knowledge gap of their students and developed remedial learning materials. With NKBW the several institutions wanted to share and use their mathematical objects nationally and for such reason the repository
technology was put at work to show its potentials. A user friendly portal with search strategies and social structures was to be built to facilitate such repository technology to the end user. In this paper the ideas and design of the portal and repository are described. Although the initial project period had a term of just one year, and for such reason only a beta release could be delivered, already a working environment is presented.
