The present invention is directed to spherical polymer particles, methods for the manufacturing thereof, and uses thereof. The method of the invention comprises: - heating up a volume of a first liquid in a container to a working temperature above a melting temperature (Tm) or glass transition temperature (Tg) of said polymer, and wherein said first liquid is an essentially non -solvent for at least one of said one or more polymers - dispersing an amount of the particles in the first liquid - quenching the dispersion of particles to a temperature below the melting temperature or glass transition temperature, wherein, said quenching comprises mixing a first volume of said dispersion with a second volume of a second liquid, wherein said second liquid is an essentially non-solvent for said at least one of said one or more polymers, and wherein said first liquid and said second liquid form a two phase system, and the density of the second liquid is preferably higher than the density of the first liquid.
