Abstract

The aim of this research proposal is to study the use of plybamboo sheets as structural elements (walls) in prefabricated housing in developing countries. One problem major with plybamboo sheets is that each batch could be different. The proposed project, therefore, starts with a research on the properties of sample plybamboo sheets. In the next step, joints between walls will be designed and tested, mainly to resist earthquakes and hurricanes. The result of the study will be a theory on plybamboo sheets as structural element in housing, validated for one sample batch of plybamboo sheets.
