Abstract

In this paper we present a scheme for integration of a number of key devices for WDM-networks based on three components. The elementary components, such as phased array demultiplexers, multi mode interference (MMI)-couplers and Mach-Zehnder interferometric optical switches, are explained and experimental results are presented on integrated multiwavelength (MW) add-drop multiplexers, MW-optical crossconnects. The integration of optical amplifiers and detectors to MW-sources and MW-receivers is briefly discussed
