Abstract

Irradn. of liq. NH3 solns. of the title anion (I), prepd. by reaction of bicyclo [5.1.0]-octadiene with KNH2, gave the cyclooctatrienyl anion (II). II photochem. disproportionated by proton transfer, giving, e.g., the cyclooctatetraene dianion.
