Abstract
When different persons listen to different sound programs in one room, each person wants to hear -his- or -her- program and be subjected to a minimum of annoyance from the other programs. With this goal in mind, three methods were used: 1) Low frequencies: active control of sound (or noise), 2) Midfrequencies: beam focusing using a loudspeaker array, and 3) High frequencies: directional loudspeaker and passive absorption.
