    Abstract

Summer 1981 a new solar heating system has been installed in the Solar House at the E.U.T. The principal features of the system are Philips VTR 261 evacuated tube collectors, integration of the auxiliary heater with the (stratified water) storage and application of the new, balanced flow control strategy. The system is continuously monitored according to lEA requirements, with the objective of establishing the performance of the 2nd generation system, and components under real load conditions in the Dutch climate. The full system behaviour during the heating season '83-'84 is discussed, including practical experiences with the various new components and a performance comparison with the former flat-plate collector system .
