Patterns in student learning and teacher learning: similarities and differences

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterAcademicpeer-review

Abstract

Fostering student learning often requires teachers learning about teaching and learning. Many contemporary educational innovations are aimed at improving the quality of student learning, for example, by taking individual differences between students into account, or by trying to enhance students’ capacity to learn. While new models of teaching have been developed with that aim, it is mostly taken for granted that teachers also develop their expertise in the new teacher roles required by these models. Only more recently, processes of teacher learning are being studied in their own right.
