Based on a previously reported, integral reaction scheme, a very simple, kinetic model for the homogeneous oxidn. of D-glucose and D-fructose in aq., alk. solns. was developed. It involves the influence of the type and concn. of the hexose, the hydroxyl ion concn., the O concn. in the liq. phase, and the temp. on the rate of formation of the acidic reaction products. No attention is paid to the product distribution.
