Abstract

An optical device is described, comprising a first coupler (1) and a second coupler (3) connected by an array of channels (Wq). The device can be used as an array multiplexer or demultiplexer. The couplers are multimode imaging (MMI) components. The phase differences between inputs and outputs of the MMIs are compensated by length differences between the array channels.
