Abstract

Different types of nonideal interfaces between ferromagnetic and non-ferromagnetic metals lead to a different spin dependence of the electron scattering. We discuss the scattering at ideal and nonideal interfaces between Cu and Co-coated Ni layers, and at Fe/Cr and Fe/V interfaces, using the results of first principles electronic structure calculations.
