Abstract

In this paper, the phase synchronization observed in an experimental setup, which consists of two (controllable) oscillators mounted on an elastically supported (controllable) rigid beam is studied. On the one hand, the setup is adjusted to mimic the dynamics of two coupled mass-spring-damper oscillators driven by a discontinuous force depending on the system’s state and on the other hand, the setup is masked with the dynamics of two coupled Van der Pol oscillators. In both cases, it is demonstrated that the oscillators exhibit in-phase and anti-phase synchronization.
