Observer-based production control of manufacturing machines

    Abstract

    The paper deals with the problem of controlling manufacturingmachine such that an unknown customer demand is tracked with adesired accuracy. To study this problem, a manufacturingmachine is approximated by an integrator which is subject toinput saturation as a result of the finite capacity of themachine. To solve the problem in case of unknown demand rate, acombination of feedforward-feedback controller with areduced-order observer is proposed. A steady-state performanceof the system with periodic demand fluctuations is studied.
