    Abstract

    This document is a top level overview of the Obios Project realized by the PDEng trainee Ezequiel Delvitto during his design project of one year at NXP. The Obios project aims to insert NXP in the Point of Care (POC) biosensors market. In order to achieve that, NXP developed the Obios technology to cover the segment of optical biosensors. The overall project aims for a disposable application for the Obios chip.
    The project includes the test of the functionality of the Obios chip, simulation of key system, design and build of the demonstrator and the operation of the demonstrator with partners’ chemistry. Ten demonstrators were fabricated, four of them for absorbance measurement and six of them for luminescence measurements. A first evaluation of the chip provides a general screening about the behavior of the Obios chip. The bias voltage is a main parameter of the chip and needs to be optimized. It will be a significant improvement if the bias voltage can be generated on the chip itself and automatically corrected for temperature and the characteristics of the chip.
