Abstract

A trans-disciplinary (TD) approach of nuclear and sustainable development with respect to science and technology in all aspects of human life, is analyzed. 'Transdisciplinarity' is about joint problem solving among science, technology and society. The goal of nuclear community is two fold including development of nuclear option as a part of a global environmentally sound energy policy and maximizing the benefits of the medical and industrial applications of nuclear technology. So, the success of the TD approach is based on the preparedness of all participants to work in an atmosphere of transparency, trust and openness, trying to balance personal interests with interests for the common good.
