Abstract

The use of a concatenated array of semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOA) and saturable absorbers (SA) as an integrated optical waveguide isolator for picosecond pulse operation is proposed in this paper. Numerical simulations are performed using SOA and SA rate equation models wherein the parameters used are valid for the InP/InGaAsP material.
