New results of mode mixing in PF-GI-POF

Abstract

The idea for a new measuring method of mode coupling in small diameter PF-GI-POF was born after a post deadline paper on the OFC’2008. The main concepts are the launch and detection with glass single mode fibers, the lateral movement of the fibers and the use of EDFA for sufficient signal power. In a first measurement period, we have shown, that the mode coupling in Asahi GI-POF is relatively small.
