    Abstract

    Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly identified severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) and may lead to a deadly immune response called cytokine storm in the people infected with COVID-19. As of 07 September 2021, the COVID-19 pandemic led to 221,134,742 confirmed cases and 4,574,089 deaths globally. This pandemic posed significant challenges and unprecedented threat to public health and economy in all over the world. The main route of transmission of the COVID-19 virus is droplets from a person infected with the virus through coughing, sneezing, or talking. Various measures were carefully taken for the effective control of the transmission of COVID-19 by almost every country all over the world. The purpose of this chapter is to present and highlight the various transmission routes and approaches for controlling the transmission of COVID-19.
