Modeling stress-strain behavior of polyethylene-toughened polystyrene

    Abstract

    A stress-strain relation was derived for polymers that deform by crazing, and good agreement was obtained with exptl. values. By analyzing const. strain and stress rate expts., the relation can be used to det. the stress dependence of the rates of craze initiation and craze growth. The results from these analyses were applied to solve the relation for const. stress and strain rate expts
