Abstract
The merits of various existing 1D models for nucleate subcooled boiling heat transfer are assessed. The implementation of these models is occasionally not straightforward. Some physical inconsistencies have been identified in these models. Surprisingly, the Chen correlation predicts the
measurements best, in particular for data sets with heat fluxes in the range of a diesel engine.
