Abstract

In this paper the effect of vehicular drive train hybridization for a medium-duty hybrid electrictruck (7 ton) on fuel economy and performance (i.e., acceleration and gradability) is investigatedby changing the size of the power sources. Furthermore, the influence of optimal component sizingof a dual-energy storage system (battery/ultra capacitor) for different battery technologies (LeadAcid, Li-ion, Ni-MH) has been investigated.
