Abstract
Waveguide intersections contribute significantly to the total loss of complex photonic integrated circuits. A systematic theoretical and experimental investigation into the loss of waveguide intersections in InP-based waveguides is presented, including an approach for minimizing intersection loss. Extremely low loss below 20 mdB per intersection is demonstrated experimentally
