Abstract
In this chapter a general picture is presented of the air pollution aspects in the mineral oil industry. The complete field is covered, starting from drilling operations and the well head up to the delivery of the products to the consumer. A large field of activities as is given by the mineral oil industry cannot be treated in depth in just one chapter. Moreover, there is no need for a complete in-depth covering, as many handbooks deal with this subject either concerning the engineering and energy aspects [40, 41] or air pollution abatement aspects [42,43]. Apart from
the four paragraphs covering the production and transport of crude oil, oil refining and transport of products, an attempt is made to develop some thoughts on future developments.
