Abstract

Conversion of methane or 1-pentene to higher hydrocarbons was carried out using 11CO and Pt, Ru, and Rh catalysts. The catalysts were prepd. by impregnation of Silica 332 with the appropriate metal salt soln. and reducing in H at 400-450 Deg. An important step in the process is the dissocn. of CO as a source of C for chain lengthening to form CHx fragments. Formation of non-reactive surface species from the reactants is favored at high temps. and results in deactivation of the catalystss
