Abstract
Neutron scattering and magnetization measurements have been performed on CoBr2 ⋯ 6[(1 - x)H2O ⋯ xD2O] with x = 0.48 in a magnetic field directed along the easy axis. Anomalous effects were observed at the antiferro-spin-flop transition, strongly indicating the existence of a, thus far not observed, intermediate state.
