Abstract

Novel rare-earth doped green, yellow and red-emitting nitride based phosphors have been developed for white-LEDs applications. The luminescence properties of nitride phosphors are described according to the host lattices from nitride, oxynitride to nitride-carbide. Eu2+, Ce3+ and Tb3+ activated nitride materials show high conversion efficiency in the blue region with high thermal stability. In this overview presentation, the focus is on revelation of the relationship between the luminescence properties and the crystal structure/composition.
