Abstract

The authors use a hollow cathode arc discharge as a high intensity beam source (10/sup 14/ s/sup -1/ sr/sup -1/ mm/sup -2/) for metastable noble gas atoms with translational energies in the 1-10 eV range, which is very well suited for elastic and inelastic scattering experiments
