Abstract

Interdiffusion and Kirkendall effect have been studied experimentally in the Co-Ni-Fe system at a temperature of 1100 °C for seven different diffusion couples. It is shown that in the couples studied the distribution of concentrations of the components of the system can have a nonmonotonic character. For each diffusion couple, the Kirkendall shift, concentration at the Matano and Kirkendall planes, and the concentration at the 'neutral point' have been determined. The Appendix contains data on the concentration profiles of all the components of the diffusion couples studied.
