Abstract

A method is proposed to improve the interleaved operation of half-bridge converters with variable switching frequency. It is based on cycle-by-cycle measurements of the switching period of one module, with the needed phase shift for the other bridges obtained by means of analog circuitry to allow fast dynamic response. Furthermore, in case of failure of one module, phase shift can be adjusted automatically in order to maintain minimum ripple and equal current sharing. Experimental tests validate the effectiveness of the approach.
