Abstract
A wide variety of new products, such as photovoltaic (PV) systems and solar collectors, roof lights, ventilation devices, insulation and safety devices, is finding its way into the roofing industry. As a result many problems occurred, resulting in poor quality,
unsafe working conditions and high repair costs. The 6th framework Pan- European EUR-ACTIVE ROOFer project aims to improve roof quality and reduce failure costs.
Application of a new design methodology for active roofs makes development and innovation of systems and products easier. As a result new concepts for energy generating, active roofs will be developed. In the paper the design methodology will be described and the first results of the collaborative approach will be presented.
