Abstract

Industrial areas in the Netherlands are important for a sustainable economic growth. However, the market for industrial areas faces several problems. A main problem is the obsolescence of largely 30% of the current stock of industrial areas. The redevelopment of these obsolete industrial areas stagnates as a consequence of different factos. A short description of oproblems and causes is giveen in the first part of this paper Regarding thes problem and causes, we found several case studies in which the organizational and financial approach to the project resulted in a fast development and a durable product. The case of Parque das Nacoes in Lisbon is elaborated in this paper. This paper concludes with the postulation of a research set-up regarding new managerial approaches for the Dutch situation. The aim is to function as a subject for discussion.
