N2 - In summary, chemical micro process engineering, i.e. the use of microstructured reactors for chemistry and chemical engineering, offers promising perspectives for tomorrow's processing. This will not really change the large world-scale plants in a mid-term view, but certainly will affect industrial scale-up involving respective pilot and laboratory plants. In addition, laboratory plants for research synthesis and analysis will change to an extent. Actually, the two latter processes have started already [4].
