Abstract

A continuous control set model predictive control (CCS-MPC) scheme and discrete Fourier transform (DFT) based load current identification method are proposed for the control of high switching frequency shunt active power filters (SAPFs). To allow for the extremely short computation windows presented by high switching frequency, the proposed CCS-MPC scheme manipulates the applied voltage through an intermediate modulator rather than generating the switching signals for the SAPF directly. Simulation confirms the advantages of MPC: maximum utilization of the available voltage while respecting system constraints, resulting in accurate and effective harmonic cancellation.
